Rental Textbooks

 The Ashland University Textbook Rental Program allows students attending Ashland University (with a valid student ID) the opportunity to rent selected textbooks for the duration of the Fall 2010 term. Three classes currently meet the criteria to have a rental textbook as one of the choices of format: COMAR 101, MATH 208, and PE 180. Rental books are priced at 40 % of the new textbook price and can provide a student with significant savings.

Terms of Agreement and General Textbook Rental Information

  • Rental textbooks must be returned at the end of the term or pay the replacement price.  Payment can be made with check, cash, Visa, MasterCard, or Eagle Card.  
  • The rented textbook is the property of the AU Bookstore and must be returned to the Bookstore in resalable condition.
  • The rented textbook must be returned by the last day of finals. If the book is not returned, lost, or is returned damaged and in unusable condition, a replacement fee will be charged to the student's account.
  • The rental fee is refundable only if the book is returned within the stated AU Bookstore Return Policy. Fall books must be returned by Saturday, August 28, 2010.
  • Rentals have no buyback value but the "out of pocket" expense is much lower
  • Only a portion of the course textbooks are available as a rental: it is one of the four formats generally available for any textbook: new-used-ebook-rental.
  • Rentals are available on a first come, first serve basis. 
  • Textbooks may be rented in the bookstore after August 9 or may be reserved on-line now by logging into Course Materials.
